I still remember one of my favourite Christmas presents ever! I was maybe 8 or 9. After waiting anxiously at the top of the stairs with my brother on Christmas morning while my parents took their sweet time getting out of bed, we all headed downstairs as a family. Well my brother and I were sprinting! We turned the corner into the Living Room where the big Christmas tree was and even though the room was packed with presents from Santa Claus, the only thing I could see with pure excitement was my new Purple & Pink 10 speed bike!! AHHH! Hallelujah! Santa definitely read my letter! It was pure bliss! I screamed with excitement, ran over and slid right into it on my knees like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. I shouted - "I love it!" I was speechless as I studied the detail - the white speckled paint spots on the pastel purple bars in contrast with the pastel pink bar, and the pastel aqua coloured handles, it was like heaven came to me on Christmas morning. It was the early 80's and light pastels were totally 'in'. I was an adult now with my adult 10 speed bike and it was dreamy!
That's how I feel when I walk into a dreamy room that is designed as if it was only made to make my heart happy. Kirsten Maryah Wilson's heart happy. You know when you love something so much, you feel like you know it, and it was made especially fo you?! As a designer myself, I do love SO MANY different types of style, but one style that never leaves my heart and is there to stay is anything that make me feel as if I'm on a tropical island in the days of old British Colonialism. Cane back Chairs - YES! Dark wood - YES! Jute rugs - YES! Black & White tiles - YES!
Admit it, these photos make you want to go stay in your coastal home in the Bahamas, am I right? ... I don't have a house in the Bahamas either, it's all in my imagination :)
